Bartholomew the Dane

Bart's Looking for a forever home!

Bartholomew the Dane is a glorious character!

He's now 120lbs, he was originally rescued from Mexico in pretty bad shape, emaciated, and poor nutritional status. We've had Bart now a month in rescue and he is very healthy, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered at our vet in Redondo Beach, he is 3 yrs old. He has been dewormed, and labs evaluated. Now we are working on manners. We are working with Krista Goodsitt from Goodsitt Dogs and he is doing well on a transitional lead (the green lead in the photos).

He is dog selective, we do not feel Bart was socialized properly in Mexico and was simply "left to his own devices" so we've started from scratch. He tends to like small quiet dogs who do not challenge him, he likes confident low key attitude dogs. Seems to be better with small females. He loves kids, currently fostered with a 9yo little girl whom he adores.

Bart is a gentle boy in the home, he can go for short walks to do his business then simply wants to come home and nap. He has a very good appetite.

We are in search of an experienced Great Dane home, preferably where he is the only dog. We are strongly recommending Bart continue his training with Krista (or the adopters choice if they already prefer a trainer) simply due to his size and strength so that his new family understands how to maintain Bart's manners. He knows sit, stay, and is very good at walking using our lead.

If you meet those requirements, and want to give this glorious pure bred great dane boy a home, and you are experienced with this breed, please complete our adoption questionnaire: www.gonetothedogsrescue.org/adoption-application
